Lambda Energy Ltd
Lambda has developed a spray coating for greenhouses that increases crop yields by 9%. Our University of Cambridge-based R&D company, presently raising seed finance and developing a second generation working prototype.
Growers use expensive LED lighting to maximise plant growth. Plants do not maximise yield for feeding humans using the sun’s light. Lambda has developed films that change the sunlight to increase food production in greenhouses and polytunnels by circa 10%. The novel material aims to convert both UV to red light, for optimal photosynthesis. The changed light is diffused, so that more light can penetrate the plant canopy to promote growth. The film requires no electricity to run and can be used to produce food more locally, and to reduce the carbon footprint of agriculture.
